Sharon Rennert is an award-winning filmmaker and television editor who grew up in Rochester, NY. One day, while attending Brighton Middle School, she was mediating an argument between two friends when she had an epiphany: she realized that even when people speak the same language, they often have difficulty understanding each other. At that moment, Sharon knew she wanted to pursue a career in Communications.
Sharon attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Film. She went to work in Manhattan for several years and was on track to become a successful commercial producer, until she realized she did not feel passionate about corn chips or support hose.
She moved to Los Angeles where she earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Film Production from the University of Southern California. While at USC, she fell in love with the documentary program and began a career in non-fiction filmmaking. She directed and edited her thesis film "Setting Boundaries" which documented the transformation of two women from rape victims into rape survivors as they experienced an intense self-defense program. "Setting Boundaries" won First Place in the Documentary Category of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences College Television Awards and a film grant from Kodak.
Since then, Sharon has been editing and producing network television documentary specials, series and reality shows for the past fifteen years. Credit highlights include: The acclaimed HBO Family series "Freshman Year", The Museum of Television & Radio's "A Day in the Life of Television", the documentary "Scared Straight, 20 Years Later", Glamour Magazine's "Women of the Year Awards", MTV's "The Real World" and ABC’s “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”. Sharon is often the comic relief in a room, and sometimes it's even intentional. When she's not working, she has been spotted swing dancing at various venues in Los Angeles, or practicing yoga with her favorite instructors. She has an affinity towards all that is sweet or sparkly.
